Haifa

Haifa is the third largest city in Israel.

Many consider Haifa the most beautiful Israeli city. This is reflected even in her name: there is an opinion that the name "Haifa" is consonant with the phrase "hof yafe" - "a beautiful shore".

The history of Haifa begins with the time of the Romans. In the Talmudic period, there was a Jewish settlement here.

At the time of the Crusaders, Haifa was a major Mediterranean port.

In the 30s, illegal repatriates from Germany arrived via the Haifa port to the country.

One of the main attractions of Haifa is the Bahai temple with its beautiful gardens surrounding it, attracting many tourists.

Haifa is a city lying on a mountain at different levels and divided into several districts. The lower town and port areas of Haifa are the business center of the city. Hadar ha-Carmel is a shopping district. At the top of Carmel are rich areas and hotels.

The subway "Carmelit" connects the Upper and Lower towns.

In Haifa are located the Technion and the University of Haifa.
